Youth Faith Formation
Children in turn contribute to the growth in holiness of their parents.21 Each and everyone should be generous and tireless in forgiving one another for offenses, quarrels, injustices, and neglect. Mutual affection suggests this. The charity of Christ demands it. CCC# 2227

Faith Formation Structures & Curriculum
We will be providing 4 different options of Faith Formation this year:
#1 – Homebased Only/ Parent Guided - WHEN REGISTERING ONLINE CHOOSE HOMESCHOOL -We understand that online technology is not always readily available for everyone. In this instance the student can complete lessons with parent guidance and the text book in concurrence of 2 check-in meetings throughout the year. (See additional detail in handout labeled Faith at Home - Alive In Christ – the office can print these guides out if needed to assist and guide families).
#2 – Homebased Learning - Flipgrid - WHEN REGISTERING ONLINE CHOOSE FlIPGRID ONLY - With textbook and/or the online platform of Flipgrid. If online technology is available to the students this will open up the option of participating in the lessons with classmates online weekly with a platform called Flipgrid. Flipgrid is used by education systems nationally. With a quick sign in - each lesson is at your children’s fingertips with links to the corresponding text/lesson/videos/questions and best of all they can see or leave a video or whiteboard message for classmates. (This is not live like zoom and is also not generic – each lesson will be handcrafted for our students).
#3 – Classroom Learning - WHEN REGISTERING ONLINE CHOOSE GRADE– Based on much discernment and multiple logistical factors – we decided on a new class time this year and will monitor ongoing pros/cons. If this time does not work for your family – we suggest the online/homebased alternative which will still provide some class interaction.
K-6th grade – Classes will be @ 6:15 – 7:30 in the IC School building on Wednesday evenings.
7-12th grade – Classes will be @ 6:15 – 7:30 in the Parish Office Building on Wednesday evenings. (YDisciple 9-12th Grade can decide on an alternative class day/time)
#4 - Combination of Classroom and online/Flipgrid Learning – Grades K-10 - WHEN REGISTERING ONLINE CHOOSE GRADE
With the foresight and understanding that individual family circumstances can change from day to day, we wish to have a system in place that will support each and every family throughout the entire season right where they are at in the moment. We will ensure that all classrooms will be able to accommodate all registered students for that class safely each week. This way your child has the flexibility to utilize the online Flipgrid platform one week if there are possible safety factors, without having to miss class. Alternatively if there is minimal risk the next week the child can come to class. There are accountability markers for each option – so weekly calls from parents are not needed.
