May News

It is hard for me to believe that we are looking at the end of another school year, but it really will be here before we know it. For some it cannot come soon enough, but for others they would like to stop time for just a moment so they can cherish the memories. Maybe that is what makes the month of May so special, it is filled with so many memories of life. Maybe it is just me getting a little older or maybe just a little wiser,   but I am finding more and more the importance of simply be present to moment I am living. Often we can worry about the future or dwell in the past, all the while missing what is right in front of us. A Christian is one who has discovered Christ in the midst of their life and seeks to follow Him wherever He may lead them.

There are many events this month that reflect this reality of seeking Christ in the midst of our lives.  Let us not waste the moment we have been given to share Christ with those we meet in the moments of our lives.

Faith and Real LifeMay 1st Mass will begin at 5:15pm, dinner at 6pm, presenters Kristin and Rob Vanlaecken will present speak at 6:45pm, followed by Adoration and Confessions.

Cemetery Clean Up - This winter has really taken its toll on our cemetery and we can use all the help we can get on Saturday May 6th, starting at 9am. I am always proud of how beautiful our cemetery looks throughout the year, but this doesn’t happen on its own.

Baccalaureate Mass is set for May 5th at the 11am Mass. We will honor our graduating seniors at this Mass.

The Ladies Derby Lunch will be held on Saturday, May 11 from 11am-1pm.  Wear your Derby Hat, gather your girlfriends and enjoy lunch and entertainment,

Mother’s Day - There are many ways in which a woman gives life to another and during the month of May we want to thank them for this gift. Whether one is a biological mother, an adoptive mother, or a spiritual mother; the gift of life is given from the depths of your hearts. We cannot thank you enough for the many ways in which you have shown us this life and love.

Memorial Day Mass is held in our Cemetery, weather permitting, at 8:45am on Monday, May 27th.  It is a wonderful opportunity to remember and pray for all those who have died.

Ordinations to the Diaconate and Priesthood - if you have never had the opportunity to be present at an Ordination, I would encourage you to consider making it to either one of these celebrations. They are held  May 30th and 31st at the Cathedral of St. Joseph. May we continue to pray for more vocations to the priesthood, diaconate and consecrated life.
